I don't have any original installation or recovery disks. The line received more default memory and increased processor speed but still used Intels older Westmere-EP processors instead of the newer E5 series. Holding down Options key at startup does not get me in to a boot option menu, neither does holding down the D key get me in to hardware diagnostics.Ībout the only thing I can get in to is the Internet Recovery option using Cmd+RĪre there any other tests that can be done to determine if the problem is hardware or just a software problem? I also tried the SMC reset thing with pulling out the power cord and holding power button for 5 secs. I think the white screen was actually grey initially, I reset the NVRAM and then the screen became brighter and white after that. I tried booting off a CD disk which has DOS Seagate tools on it, by holding down C key on the keyboard but I was unable to do that, just get the white screen. I also managed to access the Startup Disk and there is no disk present in there to select. I tried the Reinstall OSX Lion option but when it gets to the part to select the hard disk you want to install on to, there is nothing to select and its blank I think the hard drive is missing from the system? I took two photos of the Disk Utility, please see attached, there is a disk listed in there but its only 4.14 GB in size so not sure what this is? B oth the Verify and Repair buttons are greyed out. I just get a white screen and a continous bleeping noise or a white screen sometimes with a question mark on a grey folder. I have a 27" iMAC (Mid 2011) A1312 Computer, it has / had OSX Lion.
